    Ahoy!!

So i started up my 120 x 45 x 75 three weeks ago. It's in 12mm thick glass with curved corners on the front. It's an older h2o tank with a black cabinet. Sump is 100 x 32 x 40. I changed the baffles in the sump as they were not setup for a dsb. So there's only 3 chambers now.

    DT:
    1 x Resun (15000l/ph).
    1 x sunsun JVP-102 (5000l/ph).
Maybe another sunsun in the future? Their flow is just staggering!!
    30kg's live Aragonite.
approx: 30kg's mixed Lr so far.

    Sump:
TS2 Skimmer with reef octo pump.
    300W Jager heater.
    Dophin 1500l/ph return pump.
15cm DSB (10cm live sand from blouberg below the low tide line, 5cm live aragonite.)

All the live aragonite I kept alive in 2 seperate tanks in the garage since last year. Most of the LR has also been in these tanks. The big piece of LR in the centre of the tank alone weighs 19,8kg's!! I got this piece of LR from nosaj. It's coloured up slowly with coraline. I can't wait to put some plating monty's on it and some zoo's on the base.
Please excuse the scaping as I just put all the LR in to get the cycle going. I don't have a light unit for the tank yet either but I should have this sorted out in the next week or 2.

My future plans for the tank are simple:
Corals: Mushrooms, Rics, Zoos, some other softies and I would eventually like to try some plating monty's.
Fish: Yellow Tang (he's in my spare tank in the garage already.) Midas Blenny, 2 Common Clowns, 4 Blue green chromis, Sixline Wrasse (maybe), Flame Angel, Powder Brown Tang, Royal gramma (if i can find one in cape town) and a orange spotted sleeper goby.
Inverts: 2 Fire shrimps, snails and loads of hermits.

Ok, so I know a thread is worthless without pics but my laptop's acting up!!?? I'll try and post some asap.

Any suggestions and advice is always appreciated.
    Ciao,
    J.

I forgot to mention that I'm busy building a ATS that'll feed directly off of the durso's down pipe. And I'll also finish the light fitting for it in the sump this week.

Jaak, Looking good there mate !!

2 questions.... what is the reason for the filter floss (looks like filter floss anyway) in the sump? I am running a TS2 on my system, how are you finding its performance with the outlet pipe submerged ?

Love the idea of the plating monti on that big piece of LR?

Hey Neil, Thanks mate!. The filter floss is only there cause I put in the last bit of live sand in the sump and it's just filtering all the tiny grains that ended up in the water column. The outlet pipe is actually 2cm's out of the water and so far it's been working fine.

Now to find a fragged purple monti...

Ahoy. I need some advice here. Last night while checking out the growing pod life, etc with a torch I noticed something move under a piece of LR. It was a little pistol shrimp without any doubt. He was around 2cm's long. I would like to catch him before he gets too big. Any suggestions on how to catch this little guy? Someone made the suggestion that I get him a goby to live with!? Could be a thought... Some input would be appreciated. Thanks guys!

If you know which rock his living in ill remove the rock and try and get him out. I had to do this previously and it was my only option. Good luck bro

The outlet is about 3cm's above the water level and the level in the skimmer is set to just below the pee hole. The skimmer's working like a animal!!;)

Update: I managed to find the rock this little pistol is hiding in. I'll try and get him out over the next couple of days. I'll post pics once i've got him out.

Ahoy Leslie. Due to financial constraints i've decided to dyi 4 54watt T5's into the canopy and 2 39watt T5's. The 39watt T5's are for the back where the overflow plays a role. I'm sure I can fit the 54watt t5's in the front. I'm just going to pick up some waterproof end caps tomorrow and fit them to a T5 to see if it will fit.
I have however installed this monster 45watt energy saver (equivalent to 120watt globe) in the sump for my chaeto and i'll try to complete the ATS tomorrow too.
