    Hi
I have just joined the community and look forward to adding what limited knowledge I have, but mostly learn from all the Guru's within this community.

Currently my tank appears to be behaving, except for green bushy and feathery algae, where I appear to be loosing the battle.

Can anybody help me or give me any suggestions in order to defeat my foe.

    Thanking You in advance

    KInd Regards

    Welcome Ivan

Bushy algae could well be Green Hair Algae, the feathery stuff cvould be briopsis or a caulerpa species

Tell us more about your system and post pics

Welcome to MASA, your problem could be a number of things! Please post some pics of your setup, DT and engine room (your sump) some info on your system, how long has it been running, are you using RO water to topup, water changes, feeding, what skimmer do you have? what is your alkilinity (in dKH)? Look forward to helping!

hi Ivan and welcome to masa, its great to have you join.

sorry to hear algae has you against a wall a little,. it really can be a battle royal once algae gets a foot hold. Most often there is a reason for its continued is beacuse we as reefers are adding its food (phosphates and nitrates) tio the system unknowingly and thuis regardless of what you do it just keeps on comming. We will need a little more info from you to be able to help, and a few pics both of the algae (so we can ID it) and of the sump area (so we can see what sort of filtration you have) but in the mean time can you answer a few questions?
do you use RO water for your salt mixes and top up?
What fish do you have and how do you feed, amounts and what you actually feed. If you feed frozen foods how do you do it?
what sort of substrate do you have, and how big are the particles?
    Do you have Live rock?
What internal pumps do you have and how many l/hour in total do you have?

lets try that as a start point :)

welcome to masa, help is just a mouse click away :)

Welcome to MASA Ivan, glad you joined us. I'm not going to ask any more questions as you have quite a lot to answer already, so let's wait for that ;)
What I can tell you though is to check out the link in my signature if you missed it since setting up your tank - there might be something there that can help you as well.

A very WARM WELCOME to MASA, Ivan! Great to have you on-board!

That algae you have, sounds like either caulerpa, or bryopsis. In the case of caulerpa - it's not a problem at all - but in the case of bryopsis - you might have a huge fight on your hands, mate!

Please post some pics of the tank, hardware, lifestock, and especially close-ups of the algae for us?
