    I came across this site and they have a "400w metal halide" replacement LED flood light - don't think it's quite 400w metal halide but an alternative?

    Click on the pic - it'll take you to the site with pricing.
    I don't believe that the price is bad for a buld that'll last more than 10 years (at 8 hours per day) and 100w... infact I think that it's an awesome price

    dude for that price you could import proper ecoxotic cannons i think 2 that will be much better suited for a reef tank.
    check out premiumaquatics.com - they ship to SA

    I don't think we are looking at the same pricing here...
    The "cannons" are $472 for the cheapest (R3318) before shipping and import duties... this LED is R1000 more than that

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

    What in the world are all these LED suppliers smoking?

    A 400w mh puts out about 38 000lm
    a 150 watt even outputs more than this at around 15000-16000lm

    this is close to a 70w mh which puts out around 7500lm

    100w with a 8500lm output is just not as efficient as mh let alone beat it.;)

    I suppose in the end it's what you the reefer want irrespective what who says...personally i won't spend that amount on light because there are cheaper and just as sufficient lighting as these..but then again that's me..old school...
