Hi, can anyone tell me what may cause the dull color spots on him? Its been like this for almost a month now and he seems to be fine. Its almost transparent, but theres no signs of slime or irritation. Any clues?

How long have you had it?

Whats the Ca, Alk, pH, PO4 & NO3?

    Any changes to the lighting?

I've got him for about 4months now, no changes in light, water flow or water parameters.

Could it be the bulbs maybe? I bought a new light fixture system with x2 39w T5's
and x1 150w MH about 6 months ago and haven't replaced any bulbs since. I was planning to replace them in about 3 months time but if you guy's think it necessary I would look into it immediately?

6 months is fine for the lights, I don't think it will be them. Perhaps move the coral slightly closer to the Metal Halide light, to me that seems like the start of bleaching, but if it's been like that for a long time then I don't really know, bit of an odd one.

Thanks viper, i've replaced both T5 bulbs anyway yesterday and will replace the MH soon, just want to give the corals a bit time to adjust to the new T5's before replacing the MH.

Im a bit limited with space, so i don't know how im gone get the coral a bit closer to the MH, but ill make a plan.;)

I don't think so, im running x1 actanic blue and x1 white. The MH is a 20 000K.
I did notice something strange though yesterday, right in the centers of all these dull transparent spots i found green fluorescent colors coming through?????
Now I don't have a clue on how these corals grow, but can it be that its maybe starting to grow more "in-depended Mouths"?
