    Hi,

I have noticed some brown algae growing in my tank and was wondering if it is time to add a cleaning crew?

My tank has been going for 4 weeks. I have 2 clown fish.[IMG]

It is time to add a clean up crew. Normally they get added befor the fish.
The brown algae looks like diatoms, should go away in time.

I started with hermits, maybe because they are cheap. Added shrimps much later.

PS, neither hermits nor shrimps will eat the diatoms (that brown stuff). I had it for a few months and it went away eventually, but the crabby outjies did not eat any of it. I siphoned it off every time it got bad.

    Snails

I went with a collection of snails (6 different species) this time, they are amazing in what they eat, and where they get it. Took some time, but I got all of them in Cpt shops.

Will try update the list in my thread, but my favourite is my fighting conch, hope he does not get to large, but he is a eating machine. Also got some that "sleeps" in the sand (family calls them Zombie snails), doing a good job on keeping my sand bed stirred and are very cool when the emerge.

Do not keep hermits this time, they ate my turbo's last time, so decided to do without them although I like them a lot.

If you are lucky to find micro brittle stars, they are also assume, but perhaps not for cyno.
