I have been dosing now for over two weeks. One drop a day in my 200lt tank and I have already noticed a change

I have a number of button polyps on some of my live rock and they never opened fully in almost two years of having my tank. In the last two weeks they have all opened fully

    Coincidence or the iodine working?

Well ...... I found the same thing inside 2ml a day of iodide (the "safer" of the two) I started with Aquavitro fuel at the same time all I can say which ever of the two the corals have a massive difference. I get pics from my neighbor everytime he goes there :)

There is only one pure iodine... Atomic No 53.

Iodine is not very soluble in salt water. Most solutions of iodine include other other substances like potassium (k) or other irons to make it soluble.

There is much debate as to the actual benefit of the iodine. Or if the benefit is actually the potassium in the solution.

    Very interesting subject.....

I dose it with K :) the dosing pumps go at the same time a T piece into the same line. I believe you need the K in the solution. Agreed

Yup if you look on the floor next to the gadgets cabinet you would see two bottles Seachem Aquavitro vibrance (which is iodide) and Readsea Pot <something can't remember the name> it has a red plating Monti on the cover.

They feed into one T piece and mix before being released I to the return pumps chamber. I drilled a hole into the housing and have a RO tube that goes there. That way the RP picks it up gets further mixed on the way up to the DT and further mixed in the DT by the return blast .....

The best IMO is the premixed stuff from Zeovit they have a small bottle of Iodide Potassium already mixed at the right levels. It's just expensive and comes max in 100ml if I remember correctly.

Well of course iodine is in abundance in in the foods we feed our fish... Not....

Are we then starving our fish to get to that magic 0 NO3 ??

Possibly a need for a better diet for the fish that poop on the corals.... :)

Cool beans... Think Ill stay with what @mytank is using. What else are you dosing? Is it possible to put supplements in the auto top up and let that dose? And if no, why?? :)

The best advise I can give you is dose what you need to dose:

To find out what you need you have to test. Once you test you have the list of things to dose ....

I know my tank is calcium, Kh, mag thirsty. I am dosing amino acids as I run pretty lean on nutrients. I dose iodide as I am testing to see the effect on my refs an pinks on the sps. The K is there to help the iodide.

Quality Food. Don't starve them to get a 0 NO3. Tanks need NO3 and all the other elements. Just make sure your No3 & PO4 is down then feed baby feed.
