    Hi :wave2:

I am getting closer to eventually starting my system. As I have heard somewhere on this forum: Only bad things happen fast

Anyway, I have compiled a list of corals that I would like to have in my tank.

Please take a look at the list and post your comments and suggestions.

Also if some gurus could add their views, also what about a sponsor or two (I want to know about the availability, affordability)??

    Corals:
    Clavularia (clove polyps)
    Alcyonium (colt/finger leather coral)
    Capnella imbricata (kenya tree coral)
    Xenia (xenia coral)
    Entacmaea quadricolor (bubble-tip anemone)
    Zoanthus (zoanthids)
    Discosoma (mushroom polyps)
    Ricordea (ricordea)
    Acropora (staghorn)
    Acropora Yongei (bali green acropora)
    Favites (brain coral)
    Plerogyra Sinuosa (bubble coral)
    Montipora Confusa (montipora finger coral)

My idea around the coral selection is a bit of everything, by that I mean structure, texture, colour, size ... ... ... a bit of everything ...

    Other invertebrates:
    Clams: What type?
Protula Magnifica (coco worm/ feather duster)
Shrimps: Peppermint, Scarlet?? or Fire shrimp?? How many?
Hermit crabs: How many & what types??
Brittle stars: How many & what types??

    My tank size will be a meduim one (until I move), around 1m x 0.6m x 0.7m.

    Thanks!!!

All the above are easy enough to get and would be fine for that size tank, nothing out of the ordinary there.

The Acro's, Monti, clams and anemone would need very good lighting though. What lighting are u planning on?

As for clams T.Crocea are the most colourful and smallest of the clams u can get..really awesome, but again u will need really good lighting.

Shrimps I would go with Cleaner shrimps always full of character and have the dual purpose of cleaning your fish as the name suggests. 2 would be fine of these. Another 2 shrimps would be fine too...I have 4 shrimps in my tank.

The Anemone remember to wait if u plan on one for a good couple of months down the line ppl will tell u 9-12 months, also needs very good lighting and top notch water quality. Beware of pumps...they eat nennies!

Hermits although useful as clean up crew can be a bit of a nuicence as they can knock over corals and sometimes harrass smaller fish.

    Good Luck!!

Hi Kunhardt, Thanks for the info. It looks like I'm on the right track.

About the lighting I will definitely go with MH and a few flourecent T5 & actinic globes.
Apparently a 250w MH would be sufficient. I suppose 2x 150w MH would be better.

Nice post from Kunhardt, can't really add much to that. Clams - I'm a fan of the brown squamosa clams, but they can grow very large over a couple of years.
