Hi, my name is Frank,I'm retired and have kept freshwater fish for many years, from tropicals to Koi (converted my 12x6m pool, kids wouldn't clean it) to Cichlids.
I've just been asked by my daughter to help establish her newly acquired Marine tank for her and the Grandkids.
I have very quickly realized that I am on a learning curve of note and will require a great deal of help with lots of questions.
The tank is a small 120lt self contained unit with the bare essentials, filter, heater, pump and protein skimmer etc.

    Regards,
    Frank

    welcome!!
its not as difficult as it seems..

all that one has to do for that tank, is add gravel, add saltwater, get hold of a simple product range, prodibio is an all in one that has everything needed, Prodibio BioKit Reef
is that a Boyu TL550 tank?

    Hi There and welcome.
Add some MicrobeLift special blend to the new setup, will do wonders to the system.

Welcome to MASA. Have a look at the links on the home page and ask away.
What are the kids planing to keep?
    - Fish only with live rock
    - Fish with coral
This will help determine what you will need in terms of filtration.

    Thanks

Hi everyone, thanks to you all for your very kind welcome. Not having used a forum before it was quite a surprise that so many people replied. As soon as we have something worthwhile to show we will send some 'photos.
Meanwhile we have put in two hermit crabs and had a bit of a surprise when from one shell out popped a set of legs. Does this mean the occupant has shed a set of legs or has it ejected an illegal tenant ? By the way the present occupant seems to be alive and well.
