    Hi All

I am busy putting a 6m x 2m x2m fish tank into my lounge wall, I am trying to find out all the do's and dont's before it becomes very costly.

Welcome to MASA. Sounds like a nice build. I suggest you read the link in my signature on starting a marine tank - great info for beginners :)

Yes you do not want to make mistakes when a build of that size is in the R400k+ bracket.

    Welcome

    is the size stated correct?

    6m x 2m x 2m = 2400lt DT volume?

i think the thing to ask yourself is are you prepared for the monthly electrical costs it will take to run such a system?

lighting and flow costs i reckon will be your biggest ongoing cost in terms of electricity..

on a tank that size i would go with a skylight and try use natural sunlight to complement the system as much as possible.

i see you are in Durban so i assume you will be collecting NSW for chasges?

Welcome to MASA, if you do go ahead with this project it definatly has potential! but like Leslie says, the running costs will be a pain to say the least.

Welcome to MASA. Sounds like a really cool project. Is this the first tank that you're building?
