The [Qudos] action light is a new GoPro accessory light made by Australia lighting manufacturer Knog. Qudos is designed for action sports enthusiast especially those who want to push the boundaries when the sun goes down. The light is fully submersible up to 40m (131 feet) and offers 70-400 lumens of light from three Cree LEDs.
The Qudos action light has multiple light modes to control brightness which can be easily adjusted on the go. Qudos pairs seemlessly with GoPro, Sony action cameras, DSLR’s such as Canon and Nikon and any action camera with GoPro conversion mounts and comes with mounting bar accessories for GoPro, and a cold shoe adapter for DSLR or other action cameras.
The Qudos housing is made from machined Aluminium and comes in a black or silver.
Qudos is great for use with underwater GoPro video as it lights up images and removes shadows allowing you to get a higher detailed shot. We could also see using this in our home aquarium as a targeted spot light for us close coral pictures, we only wish Qudos came in a blue LED version for night dives and to see coral fluorescence.
The Qudos light will cost you $119 US which we consider a reasonable price due to high quality solid metal design and lumen output. Earlier this year we came across a similar GoPro sidekick accessory light which was just slightly more expensive $130 than the sleek looking Qudos. [Knog]
