    Good day all,

I would like to get a mandarin sometime in the near future. My problem is that I don't think that my system has a big enough pod population (if any at all) for the mandarin to feed off. I don't wanna go the route of getting it to accept frozen foods. How can I go about increasing the pop population in my tank?

    Thanks in advance

Hi, what I did was buy a very good piece of live rock, which had about 3 or 4 pods on it. I kept the rock in my Sump and within a few weeks the pods have bred like crazy
PS: if you have sump lights, keep it off

Ok awesone. But should the sump lights then be off always? Or only until the polulation is well established? I got chaeto in the sump which needs the lights to grow. Now to source a good piece of LR

Yeah it's not necessary to keep it off all the time, just a couple of days for the pods to get established
