    Hi,

Need some help. I still have a fresh water tank (Slowly converting to marine) and currently have a Raven EL 1200 external filter. I keep on hearing that you can not have enough filtration.

What can I do to ensure better filtration for my 50gallon tank and improve water flow??

Do you have a skimmer? that is the best filter, along with good quality live rock. Carbon and rowaphos should also be used.
As for higher flow, then you will need a powerhead or two.

Well, you could, but don't bother get it and save it for the marine tank. You might want to think about a sump too.

Tiger canister filters are a no-no for reef aquariums. I think you could probably use it and everything would be ok on an aquarium with just fish and no corals but rather do it properly the first time. The main form of filtration in a reef aquarium is live rock.
