    Good news :)

Dr. Niall Vine has confirmed he'll be speaking. His current topic is: "Biological filtration for the marine aquarist – lessons from the aquaculture industry" based on his experience setting up a kob farm in East London.

For all those folks interested in algae refugiums, mud filters, trickle filters etc. here's your chance to hear it from an industry expert (and ask questions).

For more information on the conference and expo go to http://www.imacsa.org

Folks, we're starting to advertise IMACSA using posters in LFSs, via the Two Oceans Aquarium marketing and via Google Adwords. We're also going to drop the early bird discount on the ticket price soon.

Tickets are very limited this year, so if you want to be assured a place please book your tickets now.

So what is the latest on IMACSA. Last year i did my bit by sponsoring a stand and attending all the workshops at Emperors Palace. I must say that i was very disappointed. Not only at the support, but at the frustration of every aquarist wanting calfo & borneman visit there shop and/or tank resulting in lectures being rushed and some not even been done.

Will this year be the same? I do not want to pay for a flight to CT and wait agitatedly for valuable lectures while some ego seeking reefer wishes Sprung and co to view their tank/shop.

That said. email me the relevant info if a spot is still available so i can do the necessary.

Hi Nemos Janitor :) IMACSA this year is focussed on the lectures rather than the expo. There was a weak response to the expo this year with only a few LFSs and wholesalers/brands able to commit. As a result we've cancelled the full separate expo and are accommodating the sponsors and exhibitors in the auditorium.

We're pleased to say Red Sea has generously agreed to become our headline sponsor this year. We're still in negotiations with other LFSs as to what role they'll play. I'll let you know when those details are finalized.

We've almost finalized the speaker schedule for this year. It's chock-a-block lectures all day from Anthony, Julian and 4 local lecturers. In the evening there's easy-going, free mingling socialising.

A couple of days before and after the conference we'll do some day tripping (wine farms, nature reserves etc.), LFS and tank tours, but it won't be part of the official conference schedule.

More information is available at www.imacsa.org including the booking and payment details. Hope to see you here :)

If no package deals then who from Gauteng is intending to go. Maybe we can approach an agency for a good discount?

We don't have any package deals at the moment. I know one of the Jo'burg reefers is coming down on the following SAA flight:

SA 303 Depart JNB at 06:00, Oct 23 Arrive CPT at 08:10, Oct 23

SA 372 Depart CPT at 19:50, Oct 25 Arrive JNB at 21:50, Oct 25

    Air Tickets: R900.00

    Air Taxes: R833.00

For accommodation check out: http://www.capestay.co.za/. You should be able to get accommodation close enough to (or even within) the Waterfront for around R600 or less. Let me know what you're interested in and I'll let you know if it's good value or not.
