    Hi,

Need some advice. Stay in an area where there are frequent power cuts. The spec sheet says the pump of the Nano 24G tank uses 45W. Anyone have any real world experience on how long such a pump would run off a UPS - Say 1200VA (seems to be the biggest readily available ones).

    Other suggestions?

    Kindest Regards

    Werner

*also looking for advise on a backup power supply for a nano 20g, that triggers automatically on when a power cut occurs*

Anyone got any suggestions for a budget of +-R1000?

I investigated this for my nano
An inverter is the right thing - auto start up when powers out
Lots of brands - I liked the one made by Ellie's
    builders express stocks them
Sells for about R2500-R3000 - excluding battery (which is as much)
I backed off - still looking for cheaper option

I use an inverter and deep cycle batt. Got it for 2000 on bid or buy. It last about 14 hours running my return and a small heater

What about this option I found on the sticky thread:

    HOMEBACKUPPOWER: Authentication Required

600W UPS R2500. Arg but still need to get a battery :/ Sheesh this is expensive to organise a backup power supply. Suppose it's worth it in the end, but +- 4k for the setup is a bit steep :/

If you want to run pumps on backup.. make sure to get a pure sinewave inverter and not a modified sine wave inverter. Modified sinewave inverter will bugger up your pumps in the long run.
