Idol Marine is excited to announce, what we believe is a whole new way of veiwing nano's.

We believe that the current compact nano, mostly represented here by two main brands, so called fully kitted out is a rather poorly concieved product mostly aimed at getting new people into the hobbie by virtue of being cheap.

The problem is that they are horribly under-equipped for most marine applications.

The excited new buyer gets home, talks to people on forums such as this and soon realises there is not enough current, no skimmer and horribly insufficient lighting.

Further problems are that they are nearly impossible to modify in any meaningful way without destroying the neat original product. Very frustrating.:p

    The Idol marine Rimless Nano.

Built entirely from low - iron glass, this tank aims to revolutionise the nano scene.

It has no lid or bracing, just polished glass all round.

It has a sump, with more than enough skimming power for the tank.

It has a powerful metal halide fitting above the tank giving enough lighting for SPS if that is required.

It has inbuilt piping, none of which is visible inside or outside the tank at all (the tank is completely walk around). All return and circulation water as well as the overflow is hidden in the 15mm black back section of the tank.

This means that the limited space in a nano does not require a very dificult-to-hide circulation pump. All the space can be used for liverock and livestock.

Our first tanks will have Mahogany bases, which will appear seamless with the tank, giving a very clean modern look. We anticipate being able to supply in many types of base including back painted glass.

A seahorse tank could concievably be kitted out with a red back panel and bright red glass doors.:p For those with more funky tastes.

Adriaan will provide us with a drawing tomorrow.

So for those folks looking for a really cool nano, that actually works.

    Watch this space.;)

    Cheers

Rob and the Idol marine team.

There will be two sizes, the baby is 500 x 500 x 420. (about 100l tank, 140l total)
This including a full circulation system, 150w Halide, skimmer rated to 400l and a top-up system.

We're looking at about 16-17k for a system that will work, and be incredibly good-looking at the same time.:)

    Cheers

    Rob.

Lanzo, its going to be better than the Elos tank in many ways.:)

But it will follow that clean stylish look that the Italians do so well.

Will be about a week or so for the finished product on its stand with lighting etc.

Will give a sneak peak of two pics I took yesterday, if I can figure out how to get the photos off my phone.:)

    Cheers

    Ok here goes.

    Here it sits in testing.
Its butt end is sticking over the end of the test bench.

All pipework exits into the tub underneath.

As you can see, it has one of Idol marines skinny coast to coast overflows built into the back. So no ugly overflow boxes are visible.

All the space in the nano is for aquascaping as the circulation system is also built into the back.

As you can see no ugly pipework ou the back either.

The nosels in the tank are for testing purposes only.

    Pretty cool, we recon.:p

    Cheers:peroni:
