    another q

What can I use to remove the glass from each other/silicone and to clean it with?
I think it will be best to reseal it because it didn't had any water inside for quite a while:001_huh:

    Quarintine Tank.

That would be a good start because a lot of people here don't have one and are stuck when they need to quarintine sick live stock

No you can't use your sump as a QT (if I understand you correctly), if you do this any disease you are trying to Quarintine is going to end up in your display tank anyway so its not a good idea.

Rather (as was suggested) use the smaller tank for the QT and when its not in use its also not a good idea to use it as a water refill holder because of evaporation, but thats just my opinion, you are waaaaayyyy ahead of me because I don't even have a tank yet. Maybe you should wait for someone with actual experience to answer your question :)

    Any veterans out there? :wave2:

hehe the idea was to use the same sump for my tank for the QT but it comes down to the same conclusion:whistling: do I then need another sump for the QT or how does it actually work? can I maybe use it for ATS?

    Don't worry i also don't have a display tank:(

Why not remove the broken pane from the one side of the smaller tank and then silicone it onto the side of the larger? That would provide a sump with two compartments, you would just need to add a third pane in somewhere to provide a fairly good setup?

And no, def cant use your sump as a QT! :p Don't think you need a sump for your qt, just keep it small and use frequent water changes.

Spot on Dane ... Can't use the sump for quarantine and you dont need a sump for a quarantine tank ... you could use it for storing spare water for top ups but you must try and "seal" it as much as possible ... you dont unwanted dirt collecting in the water ... that will feed algae blooms and other nasties.... Also you cant store water too long without having a "stale water" situation arising ... best to mix and use as fresh as possible ... Storing water for emergency and top ups needs to used as soon and replaced with fresh ones as often as possible...
