Ok so received my new toy Skimz FM100 reactor (thanx Les). Filled it with some GAC & Purigen.

Unfortunately the Purigen particle size is so fine it passes through the spunge , ending in the sump.

    • Option 1 - put it in a stocking inside the reactor. How would this affect performance of the media ?
    • Option 2 - add a more compact spunge. How would this affect the pump / reactor etc.

    Thanx

Same problem i had. Purigen just doesnt seem suited to a reactor. I guess a finer mesh would work but then it would get clogged so quickly. I ended up putting it in a bag in the reactor

Seachem has one. Think its called "the bag" ??
Works like a bomb! And stockings are most of the time too re-strictive!
