ID this alien please??

    I found my sand sifting starfish on the glass the other night, with this stuck underneath on of its legs: Its about a cm across..

    Looked as though the star was trying to shake it off..

    That's what i thought initially, does it not have too many tentacles for such a tiny creature(1cm)? It does not retract, nor does it have a base like aptasia..

    It's Aiptasia. Sometimes they detach and float about.

    I have seen them in the ocean's shore in PA (Port Alfred), thought it was funky and brought home and planked into my tank and lived for some time!! but was never the most prettiest. Also never knew its name until I read this thread!! amazing... .

    kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk, well it didn't cause any damage at that time it just didn't have the colors I was looking for and these guys were about 30mm each !!
