Hi, The small one in the hand looks like a muricidae. AFAIK they are predators.

the big one in the first pic also looks like a predator, but I guess Riaan will identify the species...

Thais bufo and Morula granulata. Predators, you don't want them in your tank.

yip, bottom one is family Muricidae, member Morula Granulata. And they definitively eat other snails.

Top one, can be Thais Bufo, but the knobs should be less defined. For me more a Thais Tuberosa or Drupa Morum. A picture from the other side would help more. The Driupa got a purple hue around its opening. Anyway, they are all also part of the Muricidae family and predators.

The Muricidae family is one of the largest most diverse group. And they are eating mostly bi-valves but can take on any other snail.

It's definitely Thais bufo...quite a variable species. Been collecting SA shells scientifically for 17 years. :whistling:

Yep, also Morula granulata. They can and do eat other gastropods.

OK, now I know why are my small snails disappeared, only three big (thick shelled) onces are still around.

Is it local, can I release it and would it be OK to do it or do I have to euthanize it?

Cannot reintroduce them as they can carry sickness from your fish that comes from other parts of the world.
Sump them. One day their shell could be used by a hermit.

Yes, saw them at LFS, both sponsors as well. They get conned by the importers, who in turn get conned by the collectors.... With you loosing out.
