There are these little things that seem to be coming from my toadstool leather coral. They seem to start by the leather's base and then slowly move away. There are about 5 of them now. It looks like they have little polyps and they are soft. Anyone know what they are?

Is this growing out of the coral base ?

If so, it probably is a baby toadstool ??

Hmm... sounds like asexual reproduction of your leather coral. Congrats, you're a daddy! Either that or they're something else entirely. They kind of look like clove polyps... but why these would be coming out from the base of your leather coral... seems unlikely.

I was thinking that but I haven't actually seen any coming out the base of the coral, I usually see them start right next to the coral and then move away from it into the light...

Hmm, well, if you had actually seen them come from the base of the leather coral, then I'd say they're "for sure" coral buds. On the other hand though... they just don't look like leather coral polyps. I guess you'll just have to wait and see what they grow up into. :)

Here's an update and these little thing aren't little leather corals. They seem to be growing really fast but I still don't know what they are, here's some updated pics:

They right next to a toadstool leather but that big ones polyps don't look anything like this. It could be anything really because when I bought the toadstool leather it came on a huge piece of live rock with plenty of different things growing on it...

The little ones seem kinda see through in the pictures.
