    bristleworm - good detritus eaters and you will find a lot under rocks - it has a cousin the fireworm which if touched with bare hands will cause u to believe ur hands are on fire - they are good to have in the tank -

    i agree with durleo its a bristle worm and definately good for the tank (especially good in a dsb as they help to turn the sand without to much disturbance) :), but definately dont touch it, ive been stung a few times by fire bristle worms and believe me it is not a pleasant feeling and it doesnt wear off for a day or two :eek:

    I am pretty sure that is just the molted exo skeleton of the crab - I have been fooled many a time

    agreed, that may well be an exoskeleton of a crab i wouldnt want in my reef, look carefully if you still have it and see if its just a shell or if its the actual body, and look carefully in the tank at night, where theres one there are often a few.

    @Blade, That is a Black Mithrax Crab. Its a member of the "emerald crab family", & its al algae eater... So nothing to worry about. (Sad if he didn't make it!)
    Ive had mine for more than +-3 years now, & he is huge.
    He has never even damaged any coral or eaten any fish.
