    It's a woodlouse - not a marine organism.
did you recently add rocks to your tank that were lying in the garden?:)

My question...how come it's still "alive"...unless it's one of the "3,000 different species "?..

Thanks for all the input guys. Stevzi I find it hard to believe that its a woodlouse because its running around like he owns the place in the tank. I did add rock that i bought from guys that build tanks in the germiston Joburg area. Kept an eye on it last night and it seemed real happy. Wil just have to find it tonight as i added a whole bunch of rock last night and take it out and see what ist does

HAHA, I think I'd do the same if that thing tried to attach itself to me! If it does turn out to be a parasitic isopod, IMO, get rid of it...

Doesn't look like a parasitic species to me. It should be fine.

hehe, it's definitely a woodlouse - they can live underwater for quite some time - they usually sit like that with their posterior parts in the air trying to breath better...
the fact that new rock was added recently confirmed what i suspected - i'm familier with them coming out and cruising around underwater as if they own the place:) but they won't last too long, a few days at most - i used to feed them to my anemones.
