How did they get into you tank?
I am just concerned with the idea of having put things into a system when you are unsure what it may be.

Maybe try getting a pic of it open, because in it is't current state has made ID very difficult - near impossible. I certainly have no idea what it is off hand...

    Tagging,
I have one of these as well, opens up after lights out only, looks like a filter feeder only bigger....

Hmm... I disagree with some here. I think it's a cuke... a little sea cucumber that looks a bit unhappy. Telling will be if it starts to move around and if the outside is rigid or soft. As kids know... sometimes one of the critical steps in identifying something is to poke it with a stick. ;-)

:) - as long as poking it with a stick doesn't enduce a violent outreach from it, you are safe...

Well, if there's a potential for that, then you use the "poke and run" technique... geez, don't you guys know anything? lol ;)

No, South Africa isn't for sissies, we poke and hit back if it lashes out :p
However identifying corals we seem to have a challenge with, I for one am at a loss as to what this is.

Can you maybe try take a pic at night Rob to give us a better idea of what we are looking at??

Actually, this only convinces me even more that it's a cuke. It's not unheard of for them to not move from one spot for extended periods of time. "Sea Apples" are like this too; they can stay in one spot in a tank for weeks or months. The fact that it's soft and bumpy, that the "tube" itself changes shape depending on lighting... this all suggests to me that it's some kind of filter feeding Cucumariidae.
