    Last ID needed.

Local Rock Anemone, also from Balito
About 10cm across. I got 3 of them. Do not like light, hanging under the rocks.

These are normal Natal Rock Anemones, is that correct

Yes Nsteyn - they are "usually" reef safe - they do still pack a punch when other corals come close to them - but, they do not proliferate like aptaisia.

The Natal rock anemone, (bottom picture) they do split and spread. That photo was taken not long after that one split into two. But they like lower spots, not too much light. After a year mine split up into about 10. So not like in taking over the world, but they do multiply, and they are small. Like in R2 coin

hi I have seen a lot of the ones in the top pic in the local rock pools and would like to put one in my tank.
How hard are these to look after? I notice they normaly seem to hank out under rock ledges so presumambly dont require hectic lighting. What do you feed them? do they come with the normal neni not in a yonger than 18 month tank?

    hi Riaanp

    Sorry to trouble...

I have an anemone similar to the one at the very top - the tenacles are grape in colour with purple tips and a red mouth. It likes to spend time under a rock - well after it was saved from a powerhead. I have also found one that appears to have come with a rock I purchased from a running tank. I have seen the tentacles out a bit and this is after a few weeks...

My concern is if these are dangerous for the other inhabitants. Also, would not like to kill them - what do I feed them? The one in the rock is in a crevice - so I dropped it a flake today and it seems to take it. The other one is under a rock...hard place to do the same...

They do not need target feeding. They will catch flakes that comes past. They like to hide a bit and do not want to much light. I have not lost anything else in the tank due to them.
