Hi guys I just bought a second hand tank from a guy and I would like to have it drilled. 8mm Glass.

Where can I have my tank drilled ?
I don't want to end up having to replace any panels coz they cracked or popped during the drilling so only ppl that know what they are doing.

Also need to have a new stand built as the one that it came with it is a bit weak and it doesn't have a flat foot either.

Try Dorry pets or Idol Marine? they definatley know what they are doing wrt drilling.. but its a pretty simple process if you have the correct tools and a bit of paitence....

dude if i can do it you can..

its really really easy.. im just lucky i have built up a collection of bits but it takes about 5 min to go through 10mm..

i use cordless drills so that i dont stand the chance of the bit hooking and cracking the glass..

    hey RFSwanepoel...

Its not hard to do, Patience is a must and a drill with a variable speed. Also, the hammer function of the drill has to be off....for obvious reasons...

U need to have the bit constantly wet to lubricate the bit/glass....

If you dont want to do it yourself, try Dorry's as they are in Centurion or Idol Marine in Midrand...

Really easy! Buy a diamond drill bit! 500rpm with a lot of water on the drilling.

I'm actually hoping for a forum member that has done this before in the PTA East, Silver lakes area ? or in PTA at least.

I am personally not the Handy man type and I don't even own a drill

If you want a pro to help you then phone some of the shops and pay them to come out to your house to do it. Dorry pets should be the closest. Or you can try pet stop. But remember, there is always a risk when drilling the tank no matter if are a pro or not.

I've always done my own drilling so I don't know about this but when people come to your house to drill a hole for you - do you have to sign an indemnity form first before they do anything?

    That would be awesome...
    No rush here :)
And the 32mm is not really that important as it's for the returns and I can also just use a U pipe over the edge for this.

Only thing is you are not in Pretoria?
