I just love pipefish and usually have bluestripe pipefish, but just now I got me a dragon pipefish. I fed him a bunch of new born brine shrimp before I put him in my reef because I know the store never fed her.
Of course my copperband figured she was a worm and took some exploratory bites but I think the copperband now knows that pipefish don't taste to good. [IMG]

Paul B i see you have more than one spesie of pipe fish in your tank and it doesn't look me if it is a problem. Why will some say only to keep one spesie in a tank. Just curious.

Dorry, people will say all sorts of things, especially in this hobby. They will say it is fine to feed fish flakes, and that NSW is like poison, or mandarins are hard to keep, or I am bald.
OK so I am bald but you can picture me with a full head of hair and standing 6 foot 4 inches.
(I don't know how many meters that is as here in the US we use a stupid measuring system)

Ah I love pipefish too! Have had a couple and find them fascinating. The blue stripes are the easiest I find to keep. Especially in a reef community. Every reef should have a pair!

    Hi Paul B.
I know this thread was a while ago but i just wanted to ask. Can you keep pipefish in your main tank with other fish or does it have to be on its own?

I keep pipefish in my reef with everything else. In this video you can see one of the bluestripes eating new born brine shrimp from a feeder with some of his friends.

It's a plastic container like electrical tape sometimes comes in, there is a fine net on the top, a stocking may work. There is a tube running to the surface with a small funnel on top. It is mainly for my mandarins but everything eats from it.
