    Howdy,
I've build my sump last week and been water-testing since Friday, all went well until tonight,
I moved the water to the last compartment for testing and.....a leak:(.
About 1/3 from the top on one of the outside corners.
I can see the pin-hole where the water exit on the outside but I cant find the problem on the inside.
Now, do I just put silicone over the existing join or must i strip the corner and re-silicon it from bare glass?
And what about the spot where the fresh and hard silicone meet, wont it then leak at that point?

Eish - sorry to hear, man!

The absolute first prize, would be if you could strip the silicone, and resilicone from scratch...

If you cannot do this, then stick 2 thin strips of glass usine the marine silicone - this should keep the new silicone from pulling apart from the old silicone......

I can see why the rep points are so high for jacquesb with advice like this but it is true what he says buddy... remember another thing be thankfull it happened now and another thing when working with silicone - surfaces HAVE to be dry or you're wasting time to patch - dry - bone dry!

ag yuk! was afraid that's going to be the anws.
Nou ja - was so pumped up cause no leaks so far and the tank looking nice on the stand and all,
but like chikaboo say, better now than when it's in my stand or worse, when the system is running.
    thx for the replies.

Have you also thought about adding aluminium angle to the outsides? This will also help in bracing the tank for any other future leaks. The aluminium could always be sprayed or painted black afterwards.
