    Hi all

We are trying out a new system on the forum, called the "Agree System", you will see this friendly little chap [IMG] at the bottom right of each and every post on the forum, if you hover over the icon (in the posts) it will explain to you what it is.

This is a work in progress and I am still making little tweaks to the system, so please let me know what's cool and what annoys you.

    How it works:

Quite simple really, if somone has offered good advice in a post and you agree with what that person has said then simply click on the happy face and your "agree" will be added to the bottom of the post, go ahead and try it out on this post.

That's it really. All of your thanks are also added in the block on the left of the posts below your avatar.

    >>> So we'll let it run for a while, see if it works or not, let us know what you think, please.:)

p.s. Please only use it for correct advice that has been given with regards to reefkeeping, please don;t use it for random comments or jokes etc. Thanks guys and gals.

p.p.s. You have to have 5 posts or more before you can use this system (this might change)

There should be another one - a smiley with a BAN .. for when someone disagrees with someone.. would be funny as hell

Does the agree button then replace the thanks button? What will the difference be?

lol, yip, but poor dallas, you gotta feel for the guy. :tt2:
At the moment, no, but every-time someone agrees with one of your posts, it adds 5 reputation points to your total. In my mind the difference is the Thanks button could be used for generic sort of things like just being helpful or helping someone out, like saying thanks to your buddies for helping you carry your fishtank, whereas the "agree" button would be used for more serious things like offering proper advice on reefkeeping. Whether it will all work together or not, I don't know, we're open to your thoughts and idea's. Perhaps we should do away with the Thanks Button all together, I don't know.

For one, I like the reps, Look at Hennie, Meks etc.... and you can see from the reps they know what they talking about. Even looking at Achilles, with little posts and high reps, it means that he does know what he is talking about, and one can read it from his experience, this is only to name but a few.

True, and with the 'agree' system, their reps will grow even more.

I guess the idea behind it could be the better posts you write, the more people you will get agreeing with you which in turn will increase your rep.

And it will lessen the Quote button just to write to someone that you agree- this post is an example of it;)

And what about all the times where we helped out someone over the years and never got thanked? We can fix that by adding a 1000 rep points to all the members that was active and a member for 3 years or longer :whistling:

Now that is where we need the disagree button, to prevent "quoting" and wasting posts :tt2: :)
