I just bought this and want to know... how do I clean this before I put it in my tank? viningar and water? how? soak or rinse?

this is cool i can put it in and leave it there for constant reading! or i can use it when i want to test.

i think i must put it in my sump...

    advice?

Looks cool, but how accurate are they, little worried as a lot of people say they not as good as a normal good quality hydrometer. Not saying they not, just worried about them.:)

Cool, let us know how close it is,also make sure you got no little air bubbles on the arm that swings, this will give you a false reading.;)

ok so before i tell you... my salinity test experience... is this bad, well mostly the pH.

I just tested my pH at 530pm and it read 10-11... is this bad! (sera test kit)
and my Ca at 470ppt (salifern)

ok so the coraline salinity test hydrometer show me 1.024-1.025 while the redsea has readings of 1.025-1.026

If its accurate its fine. I would suggest you test its accuracy with someone who has a refractometer, see what reading it gives as opposed to the refractometer.... This way if the refracto reads say 1.023 and your hydrometer reads 1.024 you know that you need to compensate for 0.001.... Another way to test it is to put fresh water and see if you get a reading of 1.000..... ;)

As far as the temp is concerned, I have 2 digital thermometers.... one reads 25 the other 29..... with the probes in the same place!... so which one is right? I then bought a inside tank glass thermometer and this one reads 27.... So now my real reading comes not from the equipment, but from the livestock.... if they happy, then its fine...

 i do have two hydro testers... the ones read between 1.024 and 1.025 and the other read 1.025 and 1.026

the temp in my sump according to the meter on my redsea hyrdo says 28 but the thermo in my DT says 27 ;)....

so nuthn is really telling me the truth... my fish happy and coral looks fine!

They're close enough, as long as the numbers are within the guidelines then don't worry, don't be stressing about getting exact parameters or you'll start going off your head, the main thing is stability, keep the parameters stable and within the recommended ranges and you'll be fine.

Agreed stability is more important than number chasing. If the readings are more or less right and constant your corals and fish will be happy.
