We are creating our own doom, but because of the never ending chase of might, power, money and dominance, it is inevitable.

We are creating our own Armageddon, and the powers to be is too arrogant to think of the future- instead, they only think and plan for the time they live and roam the planet, with an attitude of: "Stuff the next generation- everyone for themselves!!!!
Well, this is my opinion :(

IMO people should have to apply for a license to have children.......we are overpopulating this planet so much so it cannot sustain us.....

I'll do my part for the planet and not have 10 kids.....;)

This is a great ragedy...BUT i think there is a bit of media hype going on.
The article in Practical Fishkeeping (and others) say this is the worst drought in recorded history, mentioning the second worst flood having occured in 1963.
Depth of river in this drought - - 13.63m
    Depth of river in 1963 drought - - 13.64m
Thats a differnce of only 1cm. River seemed to bounce back fine after that drought.

Why must the goverments in power wake up - are we doing it to ourselves. Rather ask WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP?.

    Recycling, Electricity, water consumption etc.

They must catch a wake up in the line of changing and implementing new laws, eg. fossil fuel emissions, stricter laws for selling electricity to neighboring countries, Huge Factories still not Recycling their own energy, Training programs for less privileged people (And i am talking about the whole of Africa, Philippines, India etc)

It does start with us "humans", but it is no use that we all know we need to save electricity- yet none of us would put their aircons off when it is scorching outside (1 example)- even though the electricity bar says cut down or else they gonna implement load shedding.

We grew up in a time where we never knew any of these types of stuff, loadshedding, global warming etc etc. We took it for granted to flick a switch and there would be energy, buy products that is not CFC free etc.

Governments are making Billions and Billions of Doleros out of big Companies wrt energy sold, taxes etc. Obviously they will turn a blind eye towards Huge Industries if the Industries are their major income, especially 3rd world countries.

Do we all really know how to recycle ie plastics, bottles, tin etc in separate Containers???
Do we know which products we buy come in recyclable containers??
Do we know which companies/ products not to buy to enforce them to change their contents/containers etc???

That is why we say that rules/laws has to come from Government level.

And do not let me touch on the Armies all over the world (The French Comes to mind), testing Nuclear warheads etc in our oceans.
    Water contamination- industries, farms etc.

This whole debate is way bigger than we can even think, and time is seriously running out.

Have a look on Google and search for images about the north pole, Alaska Countries etc.

Places that used to be covered in ice/snow for like forever. Now it is barren land.

And we as the "average human" on the street, only knows the superficial things- imagine what Government knows and not telling;)
