    Hey,

I am planning on moving to South Africa in the next 6-8 months. I have been in the hobby for over 20 years. After relocating I want to start setting up a new tank. Is there an active frag swapping community in SA? I have been living in Beijing for 3 years so have not been able to have a tank. I am looking forward to getting back into the hobby.

:wave2:Welcome Jamesx2! Glad you can join our family here at MASA. amongst the members (active & those lurking in the shadows) theres always people wanting to swap or sell frags - in fact we and other forums are encouraging reefers to do so, so as not to deplete our sources - glad that you also wanting to enquire about it and going that route! Being so long in the hobby I'm sure you've learnt alot and would be willing to share and in turn we can help you as well (not that we knowitall's!):p Which part of SA are you planning to move to?Enjoy your stay here with us and may SA's reefing community bring many hours of pleasure (more than before!);)

    Thank you,

I am looking in the elgin area for a farm. Anyone know of one for sale?

Anyone in the capetown area? I would be interested in knowing what stores in the area have a good reputation. Where is the best place to buy supplies and where to buy corals. How strict are the laws in SA about selling only fish that are net caught?
Are there any local groups in the cape area that get together for talks and socializing?

AAAAAGGGGGGHHHHH! Cape Town gets another Reefer! Just kidding! Plenty of MASA members from Cape - Yes they do have a local club there that have get togethers - Sorry netted fish NOT ALLOWED to be sold but you can catch for yourself and donate the ones you dont want - you just have to purchase a permit from our local post office - R70 per year

A VERY WARM WELCOME to MASA, James! Great to have you on-board! Awesome to be gaining another experienced reefkeeper! Awesome man!

Well - good luck with your move to South Africa. Elgin is an AWESOME area. Really beautiful inbetween the valleys and hills, right smack in the middle of one of the biggest wine farm areas.

I will keep my ears open. IF I hear of anything, or see any adverts, I will let you know.

BUT, in the meanwhile, have a look at: capetown.gumtree.co.za - you are bound to find something on there..... In the current economic climate, there are many really good deals to be had.
Alternatively: contact all the local estate agencies:
    ie.
    - Remax
    - Pam Golding
    - Era Steer
    - Rawson

I am not 100% sure if any of them specialise on farms/wine farms.

Good luck, and don't be a stranger now, you hear!
