    Hi all

I have a TS4 Skimmer with 3 Pumps & was working on my Sump & raising my first compartment where my skimmer use to live & found that by increasing the water level the skimmer did not skim well at all seems to suck air into a pump takes energy!

So if you can get your skimmer / pump just below the water you will be able to suck more air into your skimmer & as such your skimmer will work much better!

My skimmer now is moved one compartment down where the level is nice & low

It's just what I have learnt and have seen many sumps with very high water levels

when you clean the cup, try just using hosepipe with spray spread out to rinse inside without your hands touching inside of cup. it immediately skims and well too!

Actually the deeper the water level the more air your pump will pull but the more difficult it will be to adjust. you will more then likely get a more wet skim instead of a drier skim.

Mate the laws of pressure with water! your statement is very wrong!

the deeper the more pressure in water the hard it is to pump air

Thats why when we dive we have dual stage regulators - when you go deeper you need more air as it's compressed. Just take a long thin tube and put it near the surface of a swimming pool & then try buy putting the same tube at the bottom and blow

Just take your air pump see how much more air it pumps at the top vs the bottom of your tank

Just try lift your skimmer up if it's an internal one & see the difference the closer the pump is to the surface the easier it is to suck in air. the more air it can suck in
