Hi guys,
I'm in the process of installing 3 80W T5 lights (2 white,1 blue) on my tank.
I allready have 3 54W T5 lights (2 white,1 blue).

Can i just switch on the new lights, or should this be done over a period of time. In other words first 1 light for a hour a day, then 2 lights, then all 3 lights..?

Oh yes - I have one cabage coral and one other coral (can't remember the name - it's my coral in my Avatar....)

I'd switch all lights on and just decrease the photoperiod. Then each day increase it a bit until you're back to normal

For how long should a decrease it for?
example: day 1 - only 5 hours
day 2 - 6 hours
day 3 - 7 hours
ext....

or
day 1 - 2 - only 5 hours
day 3 - 4 - only 6 hours

or is this to drastic?

Its up to you. What did you upgrade to? and from what? ;)

I dont think T5's are too much of a problem unless you have the ATI power Module.

I run only T5's and new corals always take a couple of days to get used to the 54w 18000k. You firstly see them loosing a little colour, a week later the colour starts coming back and all is happy.
