As you may know already, I am adding a sump to my Boyu, however I came upon a problem. Probably stupid of me not checking before hand, but ja, dis mos nou ma wors...

So I thought the back of the boyu is made of a strong thick plastick (due to the black covering over), but found out today it's actually the same glass as the rest of the display.

    So my questions:
    1. What type of glass is it (ie. regular glass, tempered or acrylic)?
    2. How do I drill 2 holes into the glass for the overflow and return?

I have the tank on the stand, have the sump ready, and the plumbing is ready for installation, now just need the holes done tomorrow.

@dallasg - where did you drill your holes for the outlet and inlets? And how did you incorporate your old fuge compartments behind the dt?

If you are not changing the hood, and still want it to slide down halfway the back of the tank when you do maintenance, keep that in mind when deciding on the placements of the holes.

But too low, and it creates that waterfall sound. Too high, and you cannot let the hood slide down.
If you drill the bottom and use a slimline L shaped overflow box, then you need to use a ballvalve to silence it just right. Actually, try to get a gate valve rather, easier to adjust.
