scooby sorry to hear that he is giving you so much grief, a little strange that hawks get overly teritorial. What kind of hawk is he? Long nosed, scarlett??? which one?

Assuming you have tried the obvious net method, have you tried the various fish traps and or glass bottles? I had good success catching fish using a beer mug and a net behind to frighten them in?

do you know where he sleeps? Often starteling a sleeping fish works and they tend to go forward in a straight line first.

oooohhh a speckled hawk, they are aggressive, id recomend trying at night by blinding him with a torch in the hours of darkness.. i have had success with this method before.. another suggestion is to build a glass trap with a mirror on the far end and a sliding trap door on the other.. generally fish challenge other of the same specie.. when this occurs simply drop the trap door. TIP: attach the nylon that is holding the door up to a bunch of keys or something heavy. ensure the thread is quite long.. (about 3 meters) tension the nylon intill the door is in the up position... sti have a beer and wait.. when the hawkfish enters simply kick the keys /heavy object forward to release the tension on the door allowing it to drop.. works like a charm.. but requires patience.. as a desperate measure fasten food to something heavy inside the trap..

I have a similiar type of hawkfish in my tank but it is more of a speckled red colour and I ahve not had any trouble from him yet.I have added a few fish with no problems. Just my 2 cents.
Are there different spicies of these fish?
    Cheers

Well done scooby have you made the trap or bought it coz my bugger like yours has to be banished to my lions den for eating my cleaner shrimp (poor shrimp never made it to floor of my tank before being swallowed by this dude)
