    Hi Guys

I tried googleing this but I was a bit confused with the array of answers I found.

after a water change how soon can I test my water again to see if I need to add additives?

also if a water change is being done to reduce nitrates / phosphates how soon would you be able to test to get an accurate result?

I think tank size has something to do with it so #1 tank is mine, 250l with massive return flow, aiming to test my calcium / magnesium as I have change salt from red sea coral plus to the new red sea salt mix. so after a 10% change how soon can I test to see if I need to add anything.

my dad's tank is 1000l and he has been having nitrate / phosphate issues an has recently changed his RO system to combat this. he has been doing 20% change every 3 days or so to reduce the nitrates and had added a phos reactor for the phos.

so if he did a 200l change yesterday would testing today be okay or is it too soon?

Id say 24 hours should be more than enough time for everything the balance out.

I normally do water change on a Saturday, then test water the Sunday.
So like butcherman said, give it 24h and you would be safe.

I do dose Special Blend just after waterchange.

Depending on tank size and percentage of water change, I'd say after 24-48hrs should be OK.

Just a small footnote when testing PH...I saw this when I started on MASA...

I also do that...then Test Parameters the next day after lights have been on for a few hours....I always noticed that my dKH drops after Special Blend...so I'll say that if a person has tested already and for "one or other reason" starts using Bacteria, just to do another Test the next day for dKH levels...
