there should be no personal financial information on MASA
Worst is that hackers could get an e-mail address and then try to sent you spam mail.
Or phishing mail. Mail that looks like they comes from a bank asking you to click on some link inside it to verify your address or account or whatever bogus story.

NEVER EVER OPEN A LINK THAT TO A BANK FROM INSIDE AN E-MAIL REQUEST

That is what most likely happened to you Express Reef
Your service provider or mail box administrator should be able to set up certain rules that will block, quarantine or stop fraudulent mail coming through. They are getting clever but rules should always be updated.

Most likely they got your e-mail address from a joke e-mail that you passed on.

ALWAYS USE BCC when passing on jokes

ALWAYS CLEAR THE SENDER TO YOU AND OTHER RECIPIENT MAIL ADDRESSES when you forward a mail

USE A SECONDARY mail account on all other websites. I got a secondary WEBMAIL account that I use in all other website communications. You must see the other crap I get on that account. Stock watch notices, solar panels, viagra options (I do not need that - yet).

MASA gets spammers, that is people trying to advertise their products. They do a google search on LED lights for example. And then post a comment plus link to their company selling the goods. Easy to spot. Chinese English with extremely poor translation. Obvious most spammers are from China, but also India and Pakistan. Those posts gets deleted and the poster gets banned.

Yeah, MASA domain guys also stuffed up on Sunday. It sorted but can take up to tomorrow to completely filter through. So some guys do have issues trying to sign on to MASA.

    1. Never open or click links in emails asking your to complete forms, or provide personal information, if a company wants let them make you come in to provide it
    2. be vigilant, nothing is what it seems
    3. if its to good to be true, it is
    4. use proper passwords
    5. always logout to sites that hold secure information
    6. always have software updated and patched
    7. the weakest link is all it takes to get in

    As Dallas said.

MASA is safe but not secure like a shopping website in the sense that we don't run SSL as we are not a commerce site, however I do stay up to date with all security issues and fixes that are released by the software developers. However, don't ever use MASA to pass on important information like banking information or ID details etc. not even via PM, even though a PM is 'private' I certainly wouldn't trust it with banking or credit card details. Unless the website you are on has an 's' on the address like this - https:// then don't ever enter banking information.
