Hi Peter - I would say go for +-8 to 10kg's of the highest quality live rock you can buy.

Another option would be to get +-4 to 6 kg's of actual very high quality live rock (ie. ask for one of the following types:
    - Indonesian
    - Bali
    - Tonga branch
    - Fiji
    - Premium Fiji)
And the rest you can use "bio-rock" (man-made rock that becomes "live rock" after a while) as "base rock".... (the bottom pieces of rock which makes up your "stand' of your live rock).

i agree with Jb in that around 10kg would be my chioce, although id like to add that its a fairly large amount for that size tank and thus you must take into account your internal flow. often smaller tanks only have a small return pump from the back compartment (naturally i dont know what you tank looks like) and if the internal flow is too low and the LR allows detritus to settle you may end with difficulties.

I would say that well placed open LR properly scaped is far more important that a physical number and if 10kg doesnt fit well id look to drop it down a little, or like I have done put in as much LR as I can BUT upped the internal flow with a good pump so that detritus cant settle and gets skimmed out.

    just 2 c
