Watever you decide upon, make sure its a cone skimmer, huge bang for ur buck and yeah, if reef oct, bubble blasters are pretty beyond decent pump with huge air pull capacity maybe a reef octopus xp-series internal cone

bubble blasters and full cones are not in his budget(although they would be ideal), also have a look at the reef octo's with a psk pump attached, more or less in the price range you looking at

I currently have 2 skimmers of which I cannot decide which one to part with. Perhaps we can chat and see if I can help you out.

Talking Reef Octopus 160XS or SKIMZ SM121 , either will skim your tank without any hassles.

Reason for me parting with either is that I will most likely change to a external DC skimmer.

It's almost blasphemous for me to rid it, but I have been eyeing an external skimmer as part of my sump/cabinet rebuild for a while. And those take plenty space :)

Bubble Magus make lovely skimmers but isn't the curve 5 a tad too small here? Its rated for exactly 500L according to the website.

I would much rather get a skimmer rated for 50 to 100% more than your total volume. The price differences aren't that big and you play it super safe. Skimming the fish poo out of the water is pretty important imho :)
