I still remember a LFS telling me one day after I asked: How much time do I have to spend on maintaining and cleaning this tank? LFS awnser: The tank basically maintains itself!!

I think it will be quite interesting to know how much time per week you spend, cleaning, feeding and maintaining your marine system. If for excample you do more work on your system every second week, just avarage it out.;)

Lets see what the results say about self maintanance!!!:whistling:

I spend up to 2 hours on maintenance. That includes feeding and dosing daily and cleaning the scrubber weekly. Scrubbers are less work than you'd think.

Half the time is just looking. I like my tank so 6 HRS is not enough.

Looking does not count - the question was how much time do you spend MAINTAINING and CLEANING the tank.

I voted 1 hour per week, but that's probably a bit more than what I actually spend maintaining...

I would guess 2 hours, not including the "divorce" hours I spend on the forums

Ok, each morning, between 5 to 10 minutes, feeding, checking stuff, fiddling, picking snails up that's on their backs, looking at the DSB.
Each night, feeding between 20 to 30 minutes frozen food to Copperband and all others. Piece of fish to each Bristle star. Feeding the rock anemones, feeding my Babylonian whelks that stays in the DSB. So easily each day 30 minutes just feeding. So that is already 3.5 hours.
Then 2 hours, water change, cleaning scrubber, cleaning all pumps in display. Clean skimmer, turn cheato pillow over.
Checking water parameters easily take at least another 30 minutes... wait 5 minutes and compare chart...

So that is 6 hours easily.

Then I did not do any real fiddling. Move this there. Play with my overflows, see if I can flood my tank... Redo or try to neat up my power cords.

Common, be honest. How many hours a week are your hands wet?
