Can you please advise on how much flow I should have in my 4ft tank?

Currently i have only one Sunsun pump rated 6000l/h. It seems like there are a lot of deadspots in the tank.

What would be the best angle to direct my pump?

    Thank you

    hi,

i would add another 2 smaller pumps, the 3000L sunsun or smaller seio's, aim one for behind the rocks and one directly opposite your current powerhead

Hi Divan - what is the total water volume inside your display tank?

I have always felt that it is better to have multiple smaller pumps, than just one or two big pumps....

    Thanx guyz,

    Total water is about 200lt

Is it better to have less than to much circulation in the tank

No, in a marine tank we are looking for more water flow in the tank as we need to try and simulate the massive water movement in the ocean. dallasg has given good advice, I would go with that.

    uhmmm,
in my limited experience i found that having high flow is nice for corals but one must check what fish you going to have, I have some small fish and they hide most of the time, when i switch all pumps off except my 3000l/h then they come out to play in the gentle flow.

multiple smaller is better, i have 2 6000l/h sunsun and have to carefully aim them otherwise they cause swirl pockets which upset my substrate, but multiples look crap in the tank, wish they were smaller.

I bought another sunsun pump (same as the one i have), for now i think it will do. Also going to add to 2xt5's to my 4x25w tubes i currently have.

Also did an upgrade on the skimmer. Had a Red Sea air skimmer 60. Upgraded to Reeftek Hangover skimmer with 1000l/h Octopus pump.

    Will post pics later.

    Cheers

Divan point the two sun sun pump directly at each other from each end off the tank, i find this to give great random flow;)

Those RO hang on back skimmers work well, i would just maybe raise the cup just a bit to get even darker skimmate by skimming a tad drier.

agreed! i have had 2 already and the great, if you want it to perform also better get yourself some enkamat for the mesh wheel mod! this will drastically increase your skimate.

i have another mod that i have also done should you find that the even when you push the skimate box all the way down and still find that the bubbles are not reaching the neck.

add a perspex of hard plastic slider to the out going chamber this increases the water level in the skimmer. hope you understand what in saying :)

Thanx Singularity, I did raised the cup and will give an update in a day or 2.

Sweetnsour thank you for the advice can you please post a pic of your skimmer with the perspex mod?

The skimmer are releasing 1000000's of small bubbles into the tank, anyone got the same problem? What can be done to solve this?

    Cheers

My bh-100 never released small bubbles into the although one or 2 bigger bubbles came out once every 4 seconds or so, do you still have the sponge in the return compartment ?

sorry dude didnt check that yours is the bh1000 and not the bh100,

however you can add a pipe into the return pipe to raise the water level in the skimmer.

just make sure that the pipe you add in is not higher than the actual skimmer body or else ( water all over the floor )

as for the tiny bubbles have you removed all the sponges? you can add a few more in the return chamber to help with this.

Thanx for all the trouble mate!! I've added another sponge to the return chamber, i did help but its still releasing some bubbles.

I've allready done this mod, added an elbow ,raising the water level about 2cm. Do you know what are these skimmers rated for? How many litres?

    Cheers
