How low can your salinaty go?

    I would like to know how low can the SG go in a fish only tank and why?

    I know most lfs keep their fish only tank salinity tanks at 1.019. The reason is it's cheaper as it uses less salt. Not sure about the long term effects though.

    All fish should be kept close to their natural salinity.

    I think it should be made very clear that just because one wants to keep a fish only tank compromises are not an option. Water quality is paramount no matter what species one keeps.

    To all, get out off the myth that just because you want to keep fish only or any variant, water parameters can be shifted. You need just as much diligence, care and attention to water quality no mater what :m40:
