My friend has two big elephant ears and wants to try fragging one of them. I don´t know if you call this coral the same as we do, but here's a picture. Should we treat it as you would a mushroom, or a ricordea, or is it something completely different?

Hi Ronald - you cut it in halve..... (or quarters).....

Just use a very sharp knife, or scalpel.

And preferably do this outside of your tank! (in a clean/new container, with some old tank water in it).....

Do it when it sleeps, better to drug it - elephants can be very dangerous

how do you know if there is an elephant in the fridge ?.... footprints in the butter .... bwaaaahaaahaaaaa

I would imagine that each frag MUST have a bit of the original mouth in order to survive.......

I quickly read in Calfo's book of Coral Propagation that these can be propagated but he seemed to refer to Fission or Pedal Laceration as the preferred methods, he didn't seem to mention cutting it like a normal mushroom, but I need to read it again tonight to confirm.
