I bought a pair of percula clowns recently. They were tank bred. How do i get them to host in my LTA? Someone suggested that I catch them and place them in the nennie. Will this work? Worth a shot?

What i did was place my nennie in a bucket with the clowns and chased them into the nennie with a small net and they automatically feel a sense of safety in the nennie. My one clown hosted the nennie after this and the other followed after a few months.

There is no for sure way to force your clowns to host in the anemone. They will host when and where they want to. I have 2 clowns that host the pincushion even though there are 3 bubble tip anemones close by.

    I got 2 ocealaris clowns.
One tank bred, the other wild caught. wild caught is the female.
The wild caught one host in the pincushion, the tank bred hangs around the pincushion due to the female hosting. But never host. Even after 2 years, he does not.

At one stage the female even stopped hosting and joined the male just hanging around. That was for a couple of months until she found the pincushion.

Before we got an anemone ours hosted in the pin cushions, they moved to the anemone quite quickly, where they are now most of the time, but occasionally the female goes to the pin cushion still if she feels threatened.

i have a pair of clowns not sure if they were tank bread or not but while they were in my QT tank they would host in a torch coral that i had in there. but as soon as i moved them into my main tank together with the torch they stopped hosting. now one sleeps flat on top of some Zoas and the other in a small hole near by. and the torch is literally 15 cm away.

Its awesome how all fish have such awesome personalities. I have seen clowns host the weirdest and yet most wonderful corals. But some just wont host anything.

All my percs host in some softy, my dominant pair only host in my anemones. My two black captive bred clowns do not host in any softy or anemone.

The bucket method is worth a shot. My Clowns use to host the left back corner for months on end till i attempted the bucket method. The one went for it and the other went back to corner until both hosted after a while. There's no harm in trying this method, worked for me and it might work for you;)
