If you put kalkwasser in your auto top up and it tops up with the milky water , how bad is the White in the top up water?

I know not to top up to much at a time and PH differences and all that, it is balanced with switches so it does not top up more than 200ml at any time that will be the max. Tank vol is 1200l

    Not bad at all.
Read up on using the slurry method to dose kalk.

Its extremely caustic with a p.H of about 12.4 which could send your p.H through the roof if not monitored along with your calcium and alkalinity. I'm personally not mad about using kalk in a top up as too many things can go wrong like the float switch getting stuck and dumping a truck load of kalk into your system along with the unstable water parameters as a result. I say this because you are depending on evaporation to determine your tanks calcium and alkalinity needs instead of the calcium and alkalinity consumption of the tank.

as long as the white is not blown into your display and it settles on your corals.

ideal is to add the top saturated water, that have completely dissolved the kalkwasser.

@Hermanus...stop being so lazy..lol..mix it already and ad the clear mixture to your top up once a week ...will solve the cloging and save electricity for that pump in the top up to mix it all...

Does anyone use kalsium hidroxide to boost kalk?

I've used and abused a lot of calcium hydroxide. It's pretty safe. I recommend it, but do your own research.

    +1.

While dialing in my CARX (after replacing the Co2 tank), to help things along, I use a simple kalk slurry mix ( a beaker of RO water and a couple of heaps of powder, whisked thoughly) and drop the lot into the overflow that goes into my skimmers. Your PH will shoot through the roof though, so suggest rather add at night or in increments.

If u able to able to keep up and have low demands for CA and Alk, i recomend this route.

I have an interesting problem now. I've been dosing kalk to raise alkalinity, but due to the lack of calcifying organisms I now have a sky-high Ca and Alk, but a relatively low pH of around 8.1.

    Tomorrow I dose Draino :)

    Nothing wrong with 8.1
Mines drops to 7.9 overnight. Perhaps not dose for a while then reduce ur daily dose rate.
