Video of the tank taken tonight:
where the hammers
They went to someone a few months ago, decided softies is much easier.
@hotdog83 ,How to you keep your sand so clean? Do u syphon alot or have sand sifting goby, starfish ect?
That is a good question, I don't siphon at all, and have no sand sifting fish. Had some sand sifter gobies for a week a while back, but they caused chaos so I removed them again. I think I might still have some sand sifting stars left, and there are definitely a few strawberry conches, maybe it is the conches helping. Also have a lot of flow (the 4 stock pumps in back with Random Flow generator nozzles, a 12500 l/h return, a 20k l/h Jebao Cross Flow, a 9500 l/h Tunze 6095 and a 16k l/h Coral Box pump), so maybe that is also helping.
Tank survived the holiday almost unscathed. Semifasciatus angel got stung by foxface I think, so one side of face was swollen and it has a wound, but seems to be recovering. Some random pics taken tonight:
Borrowed a Seneye, these DIY 100w Cree chips has way too much par for the softies I’m keeping, need to put smaller drivers on. This is directly under the chip by water surface, 2200 par.
need to bring that Seneye around to my place. Need to check if the frag tank is really OK.
Just out of curiousity...what should par be?
It depends on the corals, highest light acropora (mostly blue ones) need around 600-900, normal sps around 300-400, softies and lps below 200 (even around 100) from what I can gather.
I guess now you know why your hogfish got a tan.
Haha, and why I can keep a magnifica anemone healthy for over a year now.
They say the only constant is change. Been thinking lately of selling the hardware part of the tank, and maybe get another tank for the livestock for a better spot in the house, and also doing some renovations in between, so if there is anyone looking for a tank like this, let me know, have the hardware list below, think R30k is fair for this hardware:

Full tank shot last night, after the Cree LED chips already switched off for the day:
Refugium moved into place (thanks @ascheff), LED’s finished (hopefully good spectrum for macro algae), now just need to plumb it to main tank.
A macro (algae) shot:
Past weekend some collecting in kzn with @ascheff and @ScubaLover22 , got some nice fish:
