    Hi guys,

I rediscovered an old HOB breeding tank i had for quite some time and decided to convert in into a HOB fuge. The original design has a noisy air uplift that i ditched for a small pump to feed fresh water into the fuge.

The light is a unit that i ripped out of an old tank i had that takes a normal "energy saver"lightbulb ,ive got a phillips tornado 14w bulb in there right now. The reflector is a large PVC pipe cut in half

All seems to be fine and i dont see any complications, event though the loght is quite close it doesnt seem to get hot.

The fuge has 3 chambers, was thinking running the first one with some purigen or carbon, the second some chaeto and the last i have some Halymenia i would like to propagate and use for trade.

So what do you guys think?

nice idea! but rather run the purigen in the last chamber, this will allow the macro algae to get full access to all the nutrients in the water before the water gets cleaned out by the purigen

Thus letting the purigen "polish the water" instead of doing the chaetos dirty work.Ill definately do it that way round, makes much more sense!

Could i substitute the purigen for Zeolite for the time being as i have that available till i get the funds for the purigen or some high quality Carbon?
