    Hi All

My nitrites are very high, 0,2 and my amonia is undetactable. I have a 4 foot tank. All the other parameters are normal it is just the no2. I am using tropic marin test kits. What can I do it get it back to normal. I have 40kg live rock and every thing has been normal till now??

Sounds like this tank is busy cycling, soon nitrates will build up and nitrites will drop, all part of the cycle.

Mmm the tank is not cycling it has been running since Feb this year. It might be going through a mini cycle? All other params are in check. I am not sure what could have caused this because last time I checked (2 weeks ago) everything was good. I did go away for 5 days but someone was looking after the tank. Everything looks good in the tank although one of my big hermits seems to have died. He is just not in its shell anymore so I presume he is dead?

If the tank is still cycling, then it is like Alan said. But if it's a mature tank, you're either feeding too much, something died, you have a lot of bioballs or you added uncured LR and the nitrogen cycle is past the ammonia stage.
To get the nitrites less, you have to do a 25 - 50% water change as nitrites are toxic to fish. Dilution is the first step, then you need to determine what caused it.

Check that somehting hasn't died in your tank or you may be feeding heavily. Your tank will always produces ammonia and nitrite as long as there's fish and food
