    Hi Friends

I live on the 3rd floor of my complex and are wanting to find a pump that will be able to pump it up, I'm fortunate that I can get my van up to the second level with a 1000l flow bin on the back, so what i'm looking for is a pump that will be able to pump about 6m, flow is not that important as I have enough time on my hand, if I could get 750-1000l/h is fine. Any suggestion on what make and model pump will be able to do this?

Do you have a mains plug available, or are you going to be running it from the van? If you are using mains, the boyu centrifugal pumps should work, although I know nothing about them.

Wow, you need a pretty strong pump to achieve that kind of lift - no hobby-type pump will do the job, I'm afraid (AFAIK). So, look at light-industrial magnetic-drive pumps used in the chemical industry, such as the Pan World PS Series General Purpose Magnetic Drive Pumps

    From their catalog:

    • 8 models with flow rates up to 110 lit/min.
    • Available in hose, threaded and flange connections.

    Model : Connection : Head (max) : Flow @ head : Power

    200PS : 25 x 25 : 9.5m : 40l/m @ 8.0m : 150W
    250PS : 25 x 25 : 12.5m : 65l/m @ 9.0m : 250W

(apologies for the untidy table, cannot copy the pdf image, so had to re-type...)

I have been using a Pan World pump for some years now as the main circulation pump on my tank, and can really vouch for it's quality and performance.

    Thanks Hennie,

any idea what these pumps go for, don't want to have to take a second bond..

just measured with a tape now, seems like it will be more like 4.5m - 5m.

Any Lifetech pumps do that? can't find ther www.

My PW200PS cost around R2500.00 in early 2006. Not sure what they would be going for now, but can try to find out for you. AFAIK Cybervic is also looking into these pumps, perhaps he would pop in with a price...

phone builders express in hillcrest, they do some big ones there, i think the 2500lph one might make that distance but just check, otherwise there are a few other bigger pumps, like 4700lph or something on those lines.. it doesnt say head height on my pump box... but they are generally nicely priced, so if you buy one you dont like you could pass it my way, second hand prices of course;)

lIghty - my Boyu pump has a head of +-15 metres.... Also gotten from Builders Warehouse..... (mine is the 26000 litres per hour one).....
You can perhaps think of getting the "smaller model".... mine cost R999....

Saw a Boyu 18 000l / hr pump at Northlands pets today. R1550. With a 5 metre head the volume dropped to 4000 l / hr. Chris advised that there is a bigger option. 24 000 l /hr

We've pumped up two stories with an ocean runner 6500 so that might help you if you want a smaller pump.
