    Hi there,

I gave up the hobby a year or so as a result of the power cuts. I had a 1000L plus litre system that went into imbalance every time there was a power failure. Now I am back, once a reefer always a reefer.

I want to built a nano or buy one of those new JBJ nanos that come standard with the MH lighting. I still have all my old kit, Denitrification unit, kalstirrer, ATO, phosphate, carbon reactors, etc

So I am back, my main aim to to build something that can run when theres a power failure of a UPS, hence the JBJ nano.

    Till Later

A very WARM welcome to MASA Salinity!

We will try and get you sorted in NO TIME!

Cool that you want to go for the nano! AWESOME! I have not seen a JBJ that have a built-in metal halide, but, if you can get this, then GREAT! Go for it....

Try and find out if this JBJ has a built-in skimmer as well..... perhaps get a hang-on skimmer as an alternative (actually much better idea than using the built-in one)...

If you can do this, you can have an AWESOME little nano.... You can populate the nano with some AWESOME corals too...

BUT - unfortunately you will be limited to a maximum of +-4 or 5 small fish... and no tangs (nano's are FAR too small for a tang - they need a LOT of swimming space)...

Good luck, and keep us posted with your decisions....

i see you stopped because of power cuts.lets play it safer this time.why not invest in a Gennie or UPS or the cheapest option, battery powered airpumps.

Why not redo your 1000L System, theres alot of info on here on how to get extra power to your system when the power goes out.

Welcome... Any Advice??? Turn around and run or buy the "Finding Nemo DvD" instead, much cheaper......

Nah, just kidding, a Nano I think is a great investment nowadays, especially now that we are going to have more powercuts soon...

Nope they have been around for a while.

They are located in the dreaded Roodepoort LFS belt.
